Concentration Calculator
This calculator performs simple concentration arithmetic: mass concentration (solute mass divided by solution volume), and mass fraction (solute mass divided by total mixture mass). It does not look up density, molar mass, or activity coefficients — all inputs must be supplied directly.

Formulas
Mass concentration
C = m_solute / V_solution
Solute mass from concentration
m_solute = C × V_solution
Mass fraction
w = m_solute / m_total
Percent by mass
% mass = w × 100

Worked example
You dissolve 10 g of salt in water to make 2 L of solution. What is the mass concentration?
- 01C = m_solute / V_solution
- 02C = 10 g / 2 L
- 03C = 5 g/L
Result
The mass concentration is 5 g/L.
FAQ
Does this calculate molarity?
No. Molarity requires molar mass, which this calculator does not look up or include. Only mass-based concentration is calculated.
Does this look up density?
No. All inputs (mass, volume, total mass) must be supplied directly. No fluid property lookup is performed.
Does this model pH or chemical equilibrium?
No. This is simple concentration arithmetic. pH, dissociation, and equilibrium chemistry are not implemented.
Does this apply temperature correction?
No. Concentration is calculated from the values entered. Temperature effects on density or solubility are not modelled.
